Parrots escape from zoo and are found together 100 km away (X @BBCCambs)
Two parrots, the hyacinth macaws Lily and Margot, who escaped from the London Zoo on October 21, were found 96 km away in a garden in Cambridgeshire. They had been flying freely during their daily routine but disappeared after their escape.
After a report from a family in Buckden who spotted the birds, the caretakers attempted to locate them and managed to track them down to a field and public path in Brampton.
The macaws were identified as the missing ones and were quickly brought to safety by the zoo experts.
A caretaker filmed with one of the birds commented on their good health despite the time they spent in the wild.
After the rescue, Lily and Margot were fed their favorite foods, such as pumpkin seeds and nuts, and are now in quarantine at the zoo’s veterinary hospital, where they will soon reunite with their parents, Popeye and Ollie.
